Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These types of items being offered, generally online, have actually gone through no quality control and there can be no about their safety.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
